Feature Friday - Ribbon of Courage

Happy Friday! It's a beautiful day here and looking forward to the weekend. Hope you're having a great day. This is the last day of showcasing the Ribbon of Courage. I hope you've enjoyed all the ideas I've posted this month. If you missed any of them you can view them HERE, HERE, and HERE. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, let me fill you in. Each month I pick out an item from the current catalog and feature it each Friday of the month. I show you samples using the product and sometimes some ways you may not of thought using it before.
So for the month of October I choose Ribbon of Courage since it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As I mentioned in my other posts, this set was inspired by Patti Bennett in honor of her mother who she lost to breast cancer. I also thought it befitting since I too, lost my mother to breast cancer and I've been a 10 year survivor!

This first card is similar to others I've seen out there. The sentiment is from the set and so are the flowers and leaves. I used the colors from the Designer Series Paper, Petal Garden. The card base is Calypso Coral with a layer of Old Olive, which I embossed with the Garden Trellis embossing folder. I also used the Stitched Shapes framelits. I really love these and use them frequenlty. The center flower I die cut in Calypso Coral and backed it with a piece of Daffodil Delight that I punched out with a circle punch and put a gold faceted gem. For the other 2 flowers I used Pool Party and used Whisper White behind them and then used the White Perfect Accents on those. I also made a ribbon bow with the 1/8" Old Olive Sheer Ribbon.

With these next two cards I wanted to do a military theme. The background is the faux tie dye technique. I thought about how years ago we tied yellow ribbons on trees to bring home our military and let them know we were thinking of them. The stars are from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I also took a piece of the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon in Night of Navy and frayed it. I hope you like this card, it was fun to make.

This last card I got the idea while looking for some inspiration on Pinterest. There was a pictures of the 5 ribbons just like I have on my card with the different branches of the military between. Well I knew I couldn't reproduce those images but could definitely make the star with the ribbon. The "Support Our Troops" was stamped using the Labeler Alphabet set in Night of Navy. The stars are from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I die cut them in Night of Navy. The circles are from the Layering Circles. I think the hardest part of this card was making sure the ribbons were placed properly.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed today's cards and gave you some inspiration to make them yourself and to get the Ribbon of Courage bundle. I hope I've also reminded you to get your annual mammogram. I can't say enough how important it is.

Below I have all the products I used for today's cards. You can also find them in my STORE.  While shopping, don't forget to use this month's VIP Host Code. Please contact me if you need help with anything. Have a great weekend!
