Making Swaps For On Stage!

It's about 2 weeks before I head to Richmond for On Stage Local! I can't wait. I'm participating in a shoebox swap and also making some general swaps for this event. If you're not sure what a swap is, it's really very simple. Swapping is used in lots of groups. For Stampin' Up! we make cards (usually just the card front) and swap them with others that have done the same. It's a great way to get more ideas and samples of stamps I may not have.

A shoebox swap is kinda like a stamp a stack. For a shoebox swap I design a card, then cut everything that is needed for that card and have all the supplies in a box (including embellishments, etc) for everyone to make. There are almost 50 participants to this swap! So I'll have much to share when I return.

I'm also making about 50 general swaps. I showed those swaps on Saturday. Here is a picture of what this all looks like.

If you're also wondering what On Stage is, that's where we (demonstrators) get together to learn about new product, business ideas, stamp, and meet up with others we haven't seen in awhile. Monthly Swap

I mentioned my monthly swap before. I'm in a group of 10 women and we swap on a monthly basis. Each month has a different theme. Swaps are due at the end of the month. I'll be sending mine out today or Monday. For March the these is a color combo. For this one the combo was Dapper Denim, Pool Party, and Sahara Sand. Not sure why, but I wanted to use our Irresistibly Floral Designer Series paper, but I must have seen something that looked great and I adapted it for what I wanted to do.

If you're not familiar with it, you're missing out! This paper has already been heat embossed for you! You get 12 sheets of 6 designs. You can use this paper plain, just like it is or you can add color to it. I wanted color, so that's what I did. Here is the card I did for my swap.

This is a close up of the card above but using different colors. I used dimensionals behind the flower center and behind the flower itself. Not sure if you can see it on the cards but I also used Clear Wink of Stella on the flower center. It adds just a bit of bling!

Techniques

So this evening I have my make-up class for my February Technique and because of the snow we were suppose to have on Saturday I've rescheduled my March Class to tomorrow afternoon. Here is a close up of the dragonfly that will go on the card for the Glittered Emboss. This is a custom heat emboss that they will learn in class. It was a lot of fun experimenting with this to come up with the just right mixture. I also did Stain Glass on this as well. If you're not familiar with how to do that, it's pretty simple. You stamp a lined image on vellum with Stazon and on the opposite side that you stamped your image on you color the image in. I used an aqua painter.

This is the card we did in class. I did post this before, it was part of my swap I did for Spring Fling.

More Birthdays!

I hope you enjoyed yesterday's birthday card. Today's card is much different. It needs to be, because it's a different person! I wanted to use more Sale-a-Bration stuff, so for this one the Hey Chick set was perfect!

The recipient of this card has a farm and raises chickens, so as I said, this set was perfect for her. Again I scanned Pinterest and CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) another card. I don't think I changed anything on this one.
As you can see, chickens! The DSP (Designer Series Paper) I used here is called Serene Scenery. It's in the annual catalog on page 174. The paper is a 6x6 stack. The images are like photos and must say very realistic looking. This piece looks just like a barn! Yes I know, barns aren't usually this color, but it has that old worn feel to it. This piece would also work great on a card with a beach theme too! Don't you think? For the "Hey, Chick!" I also used Banners For You, for the image around the words, and die cut it out with Bunch of Banners Framelits. Of course I could have easily cut this out, but who would, when you have the dies!

Here is a close up of the chickens. I  used Stazon Black ink to stamp the chickens because I was watercoloring them in and didn't want the black to run into the colors and get all muddy. The colors I used were Bermuda Bay (love this color!), Old Olive, Delightful Dijon, Pumpkin Pie, and Tangerine Tango. The chicken in the front I stamped on Thick Whisper White because it holds up better then the regular. I also fussy cut the front chicken. For one card, that was nothing. If I was doing a whole bunch of them, FORGET IT! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind fussy cutting, it just gets monotonous real quick!

This recipient also is not a stamper, or crafter at that! But she is wonderful with animals! I'm sure I won't be ruining the surprise for her either, but you never know!
