Here's a recap of what Feature Friday is for those who are new to my blog. Each month on Friday I do "Feature Friday", where I show different ways to use a particular product. So are you ready for the more elaborate gift card holder?
The front doesn't look too bad right? Once you make one, the rest really aren't too difficult. I did try and keep the embellishment to a minimum!
So what do you think? My first one was all Cherry Cobbler on the inside and while it looked nice I felt it was too dark so I switched up and used a piece of the Merry Music DSP to brighten it up. I think that did the trick! I will be giving a couple of these away to some very special people this holiday!
Here's the next one. I know what you're thinking! I said simple. This is simple. I just used more embellishment on the front of this one! You could easily make the front of this like the first one. This just has a bit of layers, but doesn't it look great! I did case this. I loved how they brought in the Lemon Lime Twist and it looks great!
Here's the inside of this one. See there's the front of the gift card. It's a belly band and everything was attached to it! For this holder, I used a piece of card stock 3 1/4" x 10 3/4" and scored it on the long side at 3 1/4" from both ends. I did adhere the 2 sides of the holder, just so the gift card wouldn't fall out. I layered the front and inside with a piece of card stock (3"x3") and a layer of DSP (2 7/8" x 2 7/8"). You could just do one layer. The belly band is 1" x 10". To do a belly band, I just wrap it around what ever I'm putting it on and make sure I have about an inch of overlap. I also put the overlap in the front because it's then covered up with whatever you're putting on top.
This is the back of the holder. I put a piece of Whisper on the back because I used black card stock, otherwise I would have just left it alone. This way you now can see what you're writing, unless you use a White Marker! This white card stock was 3"x4".
This next gift card holder was even easier! The gold and white is our Striped Treat bags. I made these a couple of years ago, but couldn't find a picture of them. I folded the bag at about 3 1/2" (I really just eyeballed it!) and wrapped a 1" strip of Basic Black around the bag and adhered the strip to the bag in the front.
Here you can see where the gift card would go and I cut a piece of Whisper White to fit in the actual bag. Of course I had to stamp it! You don't want to put a naked piece of paper in there!
This is a close up of the embellishment. I punched a circle from the Merry Music DSP and attached that to the belly band. The guitar was heat embossed with gold embossing powder and the cleff was die in gold foil. I stamped the greenery in Memento and then colored it in with the Stampin' Blends. I'm so delighted to finally get them back in!
As I'm writing this, I just thought of another very simple holder, that I did a couple of years ago. You use the envelope punch board and make it look like a file folder, adhere the two ends and put a belly band around that. If you used plain card stock you could stamp some images on it or leave it blank. The belly band could be a piece of DSP to give it some pop. Then just punch a circle to layer on top and put an image on top of that and you're done!
