Paper Pumpkin Alternatives!!!

Well I had a chance to play around with my January Paper Pumpkin kit. I wanted to get some ideas online, but I'm having problems with my internet! So I went through some old swaps (I've got a bundle!) to get some ideas. What a great resource! I really need to do this more often!

Here's what the kit makes.

Here is the contents of the kit.

I thought this was a cute kit. A little untraditional as far as the colors go, but still is a pink. They open on an angle and have a white card that's scalloped at the top to right a note on. You can easily put a gift card in it as well. One of the holders has copper hearts and the other is white strips. The ribbon has a copper edge to it also.

So here are the cards I came up with. While looking through my swaps I came across several that had this diagonal cut to them and thought, this should be a snap! I used my heat tool to get the adhesive apart to make it easier to cut it. I was tempted to cut the one "Happy Valentine's Day" stamp, but didn't. I masked it when inking and after I stamped the Valentine's section I should have cut it apart. I'm sure it would have stamp much better. I used some Copper Metallic thread behind the envelope to give it some interest and put the ribbon through the whole that's suppose to hold the holder together.

For this next card I cased a card we did last year using the DSP that was in the Occasions at the time. I added a piece of copper foil behind the vellum banner that was included in the kit.

For both these projects, I didn't add much in the way of other materials. The card bases and layers and a few other things. Here's the photo again of the kits contents.

I'll work on some more alternatives with this kit. I do really like the colors. They're not ones I would usually choose, but thought they worked well together.
