TGIF!!!

Can you believe it's Friday, the end of August, AND Labor Day weekend! Oh no! That also means I'll be coming home soon! Waah!

Since today is the end of August Stampin' Up! also has some specials ending today. The first is the Blended Seasons Bundle and coordinating products. When you purchase the bundle, not only will you get this fabulous bundle, a Bonus Days coupon to use next month, but I'll send you 3 card kits using this great stamp set & dies. I did use the colored pencils that are available with this special along with the new Shaded Spruce ink, VersaMark, and White Embossing powder. So if you don't have those items you may want to add them to your order.

Which brings me to the next special ending is the Bonus Days. For every $50 you spend you get a $5 coupon (emailed to you) to use in September! How great is that! Pull out your wish list and get shopping!

My VIP Host Code CXWFSKJF for August is also ending. For this you need to spend $75 or more to receive the new Adhesive Backed Sequins. Check out my VIP Host Code page for all the details.

I wasn't intending for this post to be too long, but I wanted to share what I've been working on while I was on vacation.
These are microwave bowl holders. I learned how to make these last year at this fabulous quilt shop near me down here. I finally got a portable sewing machine to bring with me so I could sew at the house and bring to class as well. I had started these but didn't finish them til now. I know I had someone in mind to give these to, but can't remember right now.
I used Batik fabrics. I've been using them alot on different projects and can't seem to get enough of it! I made a set of four. I maybe adding these to my collection of things to sell if I can't remember who I made them for!
I also finished one sock and am working on it's mate. I got some new yarn and pattern. I've made several pairs of socks, but used the same pattern. I figured it's time to change things up. What a learning curve this has been! Thank goodness for YouTube!
These socks started from the toe. I usually do from the cuff down and knit with 4 double pointed needles. This pattern uses circular needles and does an afterthought heel.
I did finally finish this sock, here is shows where the heel will go. I'm hoping the next one will be easier! Wish me luck! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a wonderful Labor Day! Hopefully you will have off from work! These days, it seems everyone is open with sales galore!

More Life Happenings

Since I have some down time, I thought I'd get some more updates out. So my husband's idea of vacationing is digging holes! Well not totally, but that was one of the first things we did when we got to our house on the Eastern Shore. We wanted to make a breaker between our place and our neighbor. He got some cypress and another tree on clearance and thought these would work great. He also wanted something that would stay green all year, so these should do the trick! I must say he did all the digging. I helped take up the grass so we could mulch around this area as well. It took 2 days to plant all 11 trees! Again, I was exhausted and needed, this time a day to rest! Guess I'm getting in better shape!
Fortunately we got to do all this in the shade! I had to spray myself with bug spray every so often because the mosquitoes are really BAD! Sorry the picture looks so dark but there are our little trees! They're suppose to be fast growing so we will see! I'm out watering them every morning now!
In the above picture is a holly bush we tried to transplant. John was digging it up and came across a huge root so he tried to pull it out with the truck. We got some roots. Hopefully this is hardy enough it will make it! I'm also giving it a BIG drink everyday.

I can't believe August is almost gone! Don't forget to take advantage of Stampin' Up! August specials! You can find them in my STORE. Also make sure you use this month's VIP Host Code CXWFSKJF for extra specials!

Life Happenings

I hope you're enjoying the last days of summer. I'm finally able to get away and enjoy some myself! I know it's been awhile since I've posted. It's been pretty busy for me. My husband decided it was finally time to redo our deck, and it's a big deck! So during a heat wave, we were all out tearing up the old boards and putting the new ones down. Fortunately we just used the same foundation part. I'm not sure what you call it but what was already there. It was in good shape, so why reinvent the wheel so to speak. I have a few pictures of what it looked like with most of the new boards done. He finished it the day before we left for vacation.
This section is over half done. It's hard to in the above picture but the far end still needs decking. The picture below shows it more.

This is the end of the house where we typically go in and out. We left some of the old boards up to help with getting the new boards up but also so we could get around to the other side. We were at that time working on both sides.

Just a glimpse into my crazy world lately. I was so exhausted after working on this for a week. I barely had energy to do much of anything else. Guess I'm getting older or just out of shape!

Don't forget there are only a few days left to get the Blended Seasons stamps, dies, & watercolor pencils! It's also the end of  BONUS DAYS. Shop in $50 increments to earn a coupon for shopping in September! You can get them in my STORE or contact me if you have any questions. Make sure you use this month's VIP Host Code CXWFSKJF.

Feature Friday!

UPDATE!!!
I realized after I posted this I forgot to add all the supplies I used! So you'll find them at the bottom!

Is it really TGIF! I'm still playing catch up! I didn't get these projects done until Friday afternoon, but I'm getting there! We've had so much rain lately it's been hard to figure out when would be a good time to get out and do some weeding. Well I finally got some done before the flood gates opened! We now have a flash flood advisory until Saturday morning.

Ok, back to stamping! Since this is a new month for this Friday, I have a new product to share! This bundle was high on my wish list when the new annual catalog came out but I haven't had a chance to play with it until today! This month's product is Abstract Impressions. I was so sad that all my butterflys had retired and then when I saw this bundle, I was so delighted.
So this is the bundle. There is some patterned paper that also coordinates with this and I did use it on both of today's cards. This really looks like a set you could use for a lot of different occasions. It's all about the colors and how dressed up you want your card.
This is the page right out of the catalog. Some of the projects are simple and some are a bit more work, but all are beautiful!
Here is my first card. I CASED (Copy And Share Everything) both of these cards. Stampin' Up! Artisans did a blog hop last month or in June and one of them did a card like this one but used some different colors. I embossed the shimmery card stock with the floral die and then did a watercolor wash over it. Then I did a die cut of the same die from the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper.
Here is a close up of the die and wash.  I fussy cut "love".  This card went together pretty quickly.
This card I CASED from Linda Van Wely-Zwolle.  I'm not sure what she used for the background, behind the butterfly, but I used the new Artisan Textures stamp and So Saffron. I also added the gold metallic thread.  This card came together VERY quickly.

Thanks for stopping by. I so appreciate it! You can find all the products used on these cards in my STORE or scroll down to find a list of all the supplies used. Make sure to use this month's new VIP Host Code CXWFSKJF. If you have any questions about making these cards, contact me, I'd be more then happy to help.
